Frequently asked questions

What is a delivery challan?

A delivery challan, or delivery note, goes with goods when they are sent. It lists what was delivered and in what quantity, and the receiver signs it to confirm the goods arrived in good condition. It is not a bill; the invoice asks for payment.

What should a delivery challan include?

A challan number and date, your details and the receiver’s, the delivery address, each item with its unit and quantity, the order or invoice number, the vehicle number and driver, and space for the receiver’s signature and stamp.

Should a delivery challan show prices?

It is up to you. Many businesses leave prices off so the driver and warehouse staff do not see them. Turn on Show rates & value when the challan needs to carry the value of the goods.

Is this a GST delivery challan for India?

It covers the usual details, and the Original / Duplicate / Triplicate labels match how GST challans are printed. Rule 55 of the CGST Rules also asks for the HSN code, taxable value and tax, so add them in the item details when you need them, and check with your accountant.

How many copies should I print?

Usually two: one stays with the customer and the signed one comes back to your office. Choose three when a transporter also needs a copy.

Can I make a challan from an invoice or quotation?

Yes. Press Make delivery challan in the Invoice Generator or the Quotation Maker, and the client, items and quantities are filled in here.
