Screen Recorder
Record your screen, a window or a browser tab, with your voice, the computer’s sound and an optional camera bubble. No time limit, no watermark, no sign-up, and the video never leaves your device.
This browser cannot record video. Use a recent version of Chrome, Edge, Firefox or Safari.
Browsers only allow screen, camera and microphone recording on secure (https) pages. Open this page with https:// in the address bar.
This browser cannot share the screen (phones and tablets usually can’t). You can still record from the camera. For screen recording, open this page on a computer, or use the phone’s built-in screen recorder.
Recording starts after a short countdown. Stop it here or with the browser’s “Stop sharing” button.
Your recordings
They stay in this tab only. Download the ones you want to keep before you close or reload the page.
Next: trim, compress or make a GIF of a recording with the Video Toolkit, make subtitles or a transcript with Speech to Text, or shrink a screenshot with the Image Compressor.
Record
Sound
Tick “Share audio” when you pick what to share. Chrome and Edge share a tab’s sound, and on Windows the whole computer’s sound.
Camera
Video
Private by design
Recording happens inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, so it’s safe for work screens, meetings and passwords on screen.
No limits, no watermark
Record as long as your device has memory for, pause and resume, and take screenshots while you record.
Ready to share
Saves as MP4 in Chrome, Edge and Safari (WebM in Firefox), with the right length so it plays and seeks everywhere.
About the Screen Recorder
Screen Recorder records your whole screen, one window or a browser tab right in the browser, without installing anything. Add your microphone, the computer or tab sound, and your face in a camera bubble, then pause, resume and take screenshots while you record. When you stop, the video is ready to watch and download as MP4 (or WebM in Firefox). There is no time limit and no watermark, and the recording never leaves your device.
How to use it
- 1 Choose Screen, Screen + camera or Camera only, and tick the microphone and computer sound if you want them.
- 2 Press Start recording, pick the screen, window or tab to share (tick “Share audio” for its sound), and wait for the countdown.
- 3 Pause, resume or take a screenshot as you go. Press Stop, or the browser’s “Stop sharing” button, then download your video.
Frequently asked questions
Is this screen recorder really free?
Yes. There is no time limit, no watermark, no sign-up and no paid plan. It uses the recording built into your browser, so it costs nothing to run.
Is my recording uploaded anywhere?
No. The video is recorded and kept inside your browser tab and never leaves your device until you download it. Only your settings, such as the frame rate, are remembered in this browser.
How do I record my screen with sound?
Tick “Computer or tab sound” and, when the browser asks what to share, tick “Share audio”. Chrome and Edge can share a tab’s sound on any computer and the whole system sound on Windows. On a Mac, share a Chrome tab to get its sound. Tick Microphone to add your voice; both are mixed into one track.
Can I record my webcam with the screen?
Yes. Choose Screen + camera and your camera appears as a circle, rounded or square bubble in any corner, in small, medium or large. Camera only records just you, like a video message.
Is there a time limit?
No. You can record for as long as your device has free memory, as the video is kept in the tab until you download it. For very long recordings choose 720p or “Smaller file” to keep the file small.
Will the video be MP4?
In Chrome, Edge and Safari the video is saved as MP4, which plays on phones, WhatsApp, YouTube and PowerPoint. Firefox records WebM, which plays in browsers, VLC and YouTube. WebM files get their length written in so they can be seeked.
Can I record on a phone?
Phones and tablets do not let websites share the screen, so use the phone’s built-in screen recorder. You can still record from the phone’s camera here with Camera only.
Why is the recording black or missing a window?
Some apps and streaming services block screen capture, and on a Mac the browser needs permission in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Screen Recording. Allow it, restart the browser and try again.
Can I record a Zoom, Meet or Teams call?
Yes, share the meeting window or tab and tick “Share audio” to include the other people’s voices. Always ask everyone for permission before you record a call.
