About the Salary Converter

The salary converter shows the same pay per hour, day, week, two weeks, half-month, month, and year. It assumes a 40-hour, 5-day week with paid holidays, and you can change the hours, the days, and the weeks you take off unpaid. All figures are before tax.

How to use it

  1. 1 Enter your pay.
  2. 2 Choose how often you get it: per hour, per month, per year, and so on.
  3. 3 Open “Work schedule” if you don’t work 40 hours over 5 days, or take unpaid weeks off.
  4. 4 Read the pay for every period, tap one to switch to it, and copy the share link if you need it.

Frequently asked questions

How do I convert an hourly wage to a yearly salary?

Multiply the hourly rate by the hours you work in a week, then by 52. At 40 hours a week that is 2,080 hours a year, so 25 an hour is 25 × 2,080 = 52,000 a year. A quick estimate: double the hourly rate and add three zeros.

How do I work out my hourly rate from a monthly salary?

Multiply the monthly salary by 12 to get the yearly pay, then divide by the hours you work in a year (hours per week × 52). 3,000 a month at 40 hours a week is 36,000 ÷ 2,080 = 17.31 an hour.

Why not just multiply the weekly pay by 4 to get the monthly pay?

A month is about 4.33 weeks, not 4 (52 weeks ÷ 12 months). Multiplying by 4 leaves out about four weeks of pay a year. This converter treats a month as a twelfth of the year.

What is the difference between biweekly and semimonthly pay?

Biweekly means every two weeks: 26 paydays a year, and some months have three. Semimonthly means twice a month, often on the 15th and the last day: 24 paydays a year. The yearly total is the same, but each biweekly paycheck is smaller.

Do paid holidays change the result?

No. If your holidays and leave are paid, you are paid for all 52 weeks, so leave unpaid weeks off at 0. If you are paid by the hour and take two weeks off without pay, set it to 2 and your yearly pay drops to match.

Is this before or after tax?

Before tax. Income tax, social security, and other deductions depend on your country and situation, so take-home pay will be lower.
