About the Take-Home Pay Calculator
The take-home pay calculator shows what you keep from your salary after income tax and payroll deductions, with each country’s current tax year: the UK’s 2026/27 bands and National Insurance, US federal, state and FICA taxes for 2026, Canadian federal and provincial tax with CPP and EI, and Australia’s 2026–27 rates with the Medicare levy and super. Enter a yearly, monthly, weekly or hourly amount and see your pay per year, month, fortnight and week, the tax band by band, and your marginal rate.

Frequently asked questions
What is take-home pay?
Take-home pay, or net pay, is what lands in your bank account after your employer takes off income tax, social security contributions (National Insurance, FICA, CPP and EI, the Medicare levy) and other deductions such as pension or student loan repayments.
Which countries does the calculator cover?
The United Kingdom (England, Wales, Northern Ireland and Scotland), the United States (all 50 states and DC), Canada (every province and territory) and Australia. Each country page uses that country’s current tax year.
Why is my payslip different?
Payroll works out tax each pay period with your own tax code or withholding form, so bonuses, a part-year job, benefits in kind, or extra deductions change it. The calculator assumes one job paid evenly through the year.
How up to date are the rates?
The rates were last checked in October 2026 against the UK government, the IRS and SSA, the CRA and Revenu Québec, and the ATO. Each country page lists the tax year it uses and what it leaves out.
