Can people from Uruguay apply for the DV Lottery 2027?

Eligible to enter

Yes. People born in Uruguay can enter the DV-2027 Green Card lottery. You also need 12 years of school or two years of qualifying work, a valid passport and a correct photo.

Xilfy is not the US government and is not linked to it. Entry is only on the official site, and every fee is paid there.

Can I enter DV-2027? Eligibility checker

Answers stay on this device. Based on the DV-2026 country list, the latest official one.

Where you were born counts, not where you live or your nationality.

is not eligible, but there are two other ways in.

2. Are you married?
3. When you were born, were both your parents born somewhere else and not living in ?

For example, both parents were foreign students or diplomats there. Visiting, studying or working there for a while does not count as living there.

Have you finished 12 years of school (a high school diploma, SSC + HSC or equal)?
In the last 5 years, have you worked 2 years in a job that needs at least 2 years of training (O*NET Job Zone 4 or 5)?

Look your job up on O*NET OnLine: it must show an SVP range of 7.0 or higher.

Listing a country you cannot claim makes you ineligible, so only claim a spouse or parent route that fits the rules above.

Mistakes that disqualify entries

  • Entering more than once – every entry for you is thrown out.
  • Leaving out a spouse or a child under 21, or adding someone who is not your spouse or child.
  • Claiming a country you cannot claim, such as where you live.
  • A photo that is old, edited, the wrong size or reused from a past year.
  • Letting an agent enter for you and keep your confirmation number.
  • Adding a spouse you plan to marry later. Only list who you are married to on the day you enter.

Keep your confirmation number safe

You need it to check your result. Save one for each family member who enters; it stays only in this browser.

Check status on dvprogram.state.gov

Lost it? On dvprogram.state.gov, Entrant Status Check has a “Forgot confirmation number” tool that sends it to the email you entered with.

Avoid DV lottery scams

  • Only dvprogram.state.gov takes entries and shows results. Sites ending in .com, .org or .net are not the government.
  • The US government never emails or calls to say you won, and never asks for money by Western Union, bKash, crypto or a personal account.
  • Keep your confirmation number yourself. Agents have kept people’s numbers and demanded money to hand them back.
  • Visa fees are paid only at the US embassy, after selection, and you get an official receipt.

About the DV Lottery 2027

The DV Lottery guide brings together what you need for the US Diversity Visa (Green Card) lottery. It shows the latest DV-2027 dates in your own time zone with a countdown and calendar reminders, checks whether you can enter on your country of birth or through your spouse or a parent, walks you through everything to prepare before you open the form, and keeps your confirmation numbers safe in your browser. It is not the government and never takes your entry: that only happens on dvprogram.state.gov.

How to use it

  1. 1 Check the dates at the top; they are shown in your own time zone.
  2. 2 Use the eligibility checker: your country of birth first, then your spouse or parents if needed, then your education or work.
  3. 3 Tick off the checklist and make your 600 × 600 photo with the DV photo maker.
  4. 4 After you enter on dvprogram.state.gov, save your confirmation number here and add the results date to your calendar.

Frequently asked questions

When does the DV-2027 lottery open?

It has not opened yet. After a long delay, a US federal court ordered the State Department to announce the entry dates by 29 October 2026, open registration by 1 November 2026 for at least 30 days, and notify selected entrants by 3 December 2026. The government has appealed, so check this page or travel.state.gov for the official dates.

Can people from Bangladesh, India or Pakistan apply?

Not on their own country of birth. Bangladesh, India, Pakistan, Nigeria, China, the Philippines and 13 other countries sent more than 50,000 immigrants to the US in the last five years, so their natives are not eligible. You can still enter if your spouse was born in an eligible country, or if neither of your parents was born in or living in your birth country when you were born.

Does it cost money to enter the DV lottery?

Since September 2025 there is a US$1 registration fee, paid only on dvprogram.state.gov. Nobody else can enter for you for a fee or charge you for a better chance. If you are selected, visa fees are paid at the US embassy with an official receipt.

Do I need a passport to enter?

Yes, from DV-2027. A rule in force since April 2026 asks every entrant for a scan of a valid passport’s photo page. Stateless people and a few others who cannot get a passport are exempt.

What education do I need?

At least a high school education, meaning 12 years of formal schooling such as SSC and HSC, or two years of work in the last five years in a job that needs at least two years of training (Job Zone 4 or 5, SVP 7.0 or higher, on O*NET OnLine). You prove it at the interview, not when you enter.

Who must I include in my entry?

Your husband or wife (even if you are separated, unless legally separated by a court) and every unmarried child under 21, including adopted children and stepchildren, even if they will not move with you. Leaving someone out, or adding someone who is not your spouse or child, disqualifies the entry.

How do I check if I won?

Only on dvprogram.state.gov, with Entrant Status Check and your confirmation number. The US government does not email, call or send letters to tell you that you won. Any message that does is a scam.

What if I lose my confirmation number?

On dvprogram.state.gov, Entrant Status Check has a tool that sends your confirmation number to the email address you entered with. Embassies cannot look it up for you. Save it on this page as soon as you enter.
