Taking a good passport photo at home

• Stand about 1 m in front of a plain white or light wall.
• Face a window for soft, even light, with no shadows on the face or wall.
• Ask someone else to take it, at eye level, from 1–1.5 m away.
• Look straight at the camera, neutral face, mouth closed, eyes open.
• Take off glasses and hats (religious head coverings are usually allowed).
• Keep your shoulders and the top of your hair in the photo.
